Soundpool for “Dim Light”

Guitarist and improviser Şevket Akıncı is known by Space Debris followers with the experimental music nights he organizes. This time his guest is Colombian singer Maria Monica Gutierrez. Inspired by the works at the current exhibition “Dim Light” at Space Debris, they will create miniature sound pools by melting the music within the composition of the space.

Şevket Akıncı, who received his degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, is the one indispensable personas of Istanbul jazz and experimental music scene. He is also a lecturer at the Bahçeşehir University Jazz Department.

Maria Monica Gutierrez is a singer and composer from Bogotá, Marca Colombia. She leads the bands: Ságan – Electro Pop (KEXP (USA), SXSW (USA), Lollapalooza, MaMA (Fr), BIME (Es), Estéreo Picnic), Suricato – Colombian Jazz (Italy, USA – Smithsonian Museum, Kennedy Center, Mexico , Argentina, Brazil, Spain) and El Último Boabdil – Experimental Music.

She has published six albums as a singer and composer with her groups, as well as appearing as a guest on more than ten albums, among which her participation for Sony Music in the “Tributo 20 años El Dorado” by Aterciopelados stands out.
She is currently releasing her solo project Montañera, entitled “Encarnación”, with which she obtained “Honorable Mention” in the 2017 Music Production Grant of the Colombian Bank of Republic.
